Three years ago, medical genius Selene risked everything to pull her husband Caleb out of a raging fire, at the price of having both her hands and legs permanently crippled. But all she got in return was the most brutal betrayal imaginable: Caleb cheated on her with his own stepbrother Rowan, the pair stole her one-of-a-kind unparalleled medical formula, then Rowan stabbed her straight through the abdomen, stuffed her into a rough burlap sack, and threw her off a cliff in the middle of a torrential downpour.
Teetering on the very edge of life and death, she was rescued by Valen, the notorious North American Mafia Godfather — who turned out to be the dying stranger Selene had saved in a dark back alley three years prior.
Hell is far too crowded to keep her trapped. The vengeance-bound queen crawls right back up from the abyss.
Against all medical odds, Selene makes a full recovery of her mangled limbs. She returns under a new public identity as a top-tier chaebol medical consultant, showing up at the trillion-dollar industry peak summit, where she publicly leaks the scumbag pair's explicit private photos and irrefutable ironclad proof of their theft. She drags both men straight through the mire of public shame and gets them locked behind bars for all their crimes.
When her arrogant former mother-in-law steps in to block her path, the normally cold, ruthless mafia godfather Valen willingly takes thirty brutal lashes from a barbed iron whip, and smashes the black-gold power ring that symbolizes his absolute supreme authority right in front of every industry heavyweight. He abandons his trillion-dollar criminal empire and his godfather throne entirely, only to drop to one knee at her feet, vowing to be her exclusive personal bodyguard and most loyal, undeviating devotee for the rest of his life.
