Psychotherapist Eva accepts a million-dollar surrogacy agreement from mafia heir Selena to pay for husband Ethan's leukemia treatment. At Selena's villa she discovers that Ethan's gambling debts led him to treat her as a commodity from the beginning and sell her due date to the rival Cassano family. Eva and Selena move from employer and surrogate to mutual love while protecting the child from attacks, kidnapping, and internal betrayal. Selena's former lover and guard Dante is shot twice protecting Eva and ultimately supports their choice. After police and the Vance family capture Cassano, Eva divorces Ethan, resumes her medical career, and raises the daughter with Selena in a seaside home.
