Brilliant aerospace scientist Iris Harris lost her parents as a child and was adopted by Nathan Ashford, a man she would one day fall deeply in love with. But fearful of the rumors surrounding their relationship, Nathan brings in Serena to pose as his fiancée, deliberately pushing Iris away.
Heartbroken by his rejection and crushed by one misunderstanding after another, Iris makes a life-changing decision: she joins Horizon 869, a deep-space mission so dangerous it could be a one-way trip into the unknown. By the time Nathan realizes he truly loves her, her spacecraft has already vanished into the stars.
Consumed by regret, he sacrifices his fortune and health, spending the next twenty years waiting at a monitoring station for a signal that may never come. After two decades apart, a reunion finally seems within reach—but will fate bring them together at last, or will the vastness of space and the cruelty of destiny tear them apart forever?
